Building empathy

Working with a start-up business is totally different from working in even a semi established business; all involved have to think and do things differently compared with an established business. Guy quickly builds empathy enabling him to guide, mentor and enable start-ups to be successful.

Guy has led Marketing teams on re-branding initiatives at Alumasc and Appart, and recently worked with ÜberRaum Architects in London to promote their brand to new clients.

Business worth £12m in just three years

In 2013 Guy was asked to mentor a new Business Development Manager in a well-established Fit-Out Contractor company. In a three-month period Guy developed the BDM in live fieldwork sales techniques including: pitching, appointment making, and organisational time management selling to architects and developers.

The MD’s brief to the new BDM was ‘go out and get as many enquiries as possible for the QS’s to quote’. The BDM went on to secure £5m worth of new enquiries for the company in year one, £8m in year two and £12m in year three.

Additional £15m worth of business

In his most recent Interim role for Matilda’s Planet, Guy redefined the whole company strategy, targeting the client rather than the installer, delivered £4.4m worth of committed sales 2016-2020, a Pipeline in excess of £100m and recruited a new sales presence that went onto create an additional £15m worth of business in quick succession.
